maintaining the system

Anything you put down the toilet, bathroom, kitchen or laundry sink comes back to our local water centre and is directly traceable to your home. You can help make your community's sustainable recycled water system a success by remembering this simple water cycle.

Some things are not meant to go into any water network, and can block the system. They can damage the grinder pump, endanger our workers and cause environmental pollution. Help keep our system as healthy as you can.

what not to flush

Help us keep our wastewater system working well. Please dispose of these items in the bin:

  • All types of wet wipes, including those labelled 'flushable'
  • Facial tissues
  • Paper napkins or  hand towels
  • Nappies
  • Sanitary items
  • Rags
  • Cotton buds
  • Dental floss
  • Cigarette butts
  • Fats and oils
  • Food scraps
  • Needles
  • Medications

Sink waste traps are easily installed in the kitchen and bathroom to help filter out rubbish so that it ends up in the bin — rather than down the drain.

If you are in doubt about what you can put into your recycled water system, please call 1300 803 803 and speak to our team
