Important information for Altogether customers about Cyclone Alfred.

Updated 5 March 2025.

Tropical cyclones can have significant effects on homes as well as essential infrastructure. We are urging our Queensland-based and northern NSW customers to understand the risks and prepare for Cyclone Alfred over the coming days.

Keeping informed and staying safe.

Queensland’s major energy distributors – Energex and Ergon – have provided information on keeping safe during severe weather events, and how to prepare. We encourage customers to read these in preparation for Cyclone Alfred.

In the event of a power outage or emergency.

In the event of an outage, you should first check your location for reported outages and updates from your distributor, this will be either Energex (for residents in South East Queensland) or Ergon (for residents in Greater Queensland).

You can find your distributor’s faults and emergency number on the top of your bill, however you should expect their contact centre to be busy. Check for outages quickly online at:

https://www.energex.com.au/outages/outage-finder/emergency-outages-text-view/

https://www.ergon.com.au/network/outages/outage-finder/outage-finder-map/

If you live in a high-rise building with booster pumps for your water supply, these booster pumps will be affected if your building is experiencing a power outage. This means you will not have running water until the power is restored. We recommend you prepare for power outages and ensure you have enough water.

If the distributor has not reported an outage in your area, please contact:

  • If Altogether Group is your authorised retailer, contact Altogether faults and emergencies (Retail customers): 1300 806 806 option 1

  • If Altogether Solutions is the billing agent on behalf of your community's body corporate or site owner, please get in touch with your building manager directly.

Many of our customer-facing employees are based in or around Brisbane and may be personally impacted by the cyclone, so please be patient with our team members.

Medically dependent customers or those with life support equipment.

If you or someone in your household uses life support equipment and is unexpectedly left without an energy supply, the first thing you should do is contact your local distributor and explain that the property requires an energy supply for life support equipment.

To help in the event of an unplanned interruption, we recommend you use your back-up action plan. Here is what you should consider:

  • Consolidate all necessary phone numbers in writing and secure them in a safe place, including: your doctor, nearest hospital, an emergency contact and your local distributor and energy retailer.

  • Ensure backup batteries for your life support equipment are always charged.

  • Ensure any backup oxygen tanks are full.

  • Ensure you have a power bank that is always fully charged for your mobile phone.

  • Talk to your medical practitioner for any additional advice that applies to your life support equipment.
