water night launch

I had the privilege of attending the launch event for Water Night 2023, held at the Bangarra Dance Theatre in Sydney. It was a remarkable gathering that celebrated Australia's commitment to water knowledge, behaviours, and awareness, and I'm thrilled to share the highlights, especially in the context of Altogether Group's role in providing recycled water to our communities.

As the Head of Water Operations at Altogether Group, I am acutely aware of our mission to deliver sustainable water solutions to our communities. Water Night 2023 is an event that perfectly aligned with our values and goals, and it demonstrates the positive impact we can have on our customers and end users.

I found Chris' message particularly intriguing. Chris' talk revolved around the outcomes of a survey, shedding light on key findings and insights into Australia's water landscape. One notable aspect was the significant gap between intentions and behaviour, revealing a disconnect between perceptions and reality when it comes to water. These findings are crucial in shaping our approach to sustainable water management. You can delve deeper into these insights by checking out the new research report called "Aussie Intentions: Are They Enough?"

The stage was set for a series of compelling talks:

  • Costa Georgiadis, our charismatic MC, captivated us with his passion for sustainable living and gardening.
  • Adam Lovell, Executive Director of the Water Services Association Australia, took the stage and shared invaluable research findings on Australia's water knowledge. His insights reinforced the notion that knowledge is the bedrock of responsible water management—an ethos deeply ingrained in Altogether Group's approach.
  • Next, Chris Philpot, CEO of The Water Conservancy, shared his vision for a water-wise Australia. His talk focused on the critical role of awareness and behavioural change in ensuring a sustainable water future.
  • And finally, Lou-Ellen Watson from the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment, and Water shared how her people recognised the significance of water through their storytelling.

The morning wasn't just about lectures; it was about building a community of individuals and organisations dedicated to water conservation. Conversations flowed as attendees shared their own experiences, challenges, and solutions. It was a reminder that we are all connected by our shared responsibility for this precious resource, a responsibility that Altogether Group takes seriously.

As the morning concluded, I couldn't help but reflect on the importance of events like this. It's not just about statistics or lectures; it's about fostering a sense of responsibility and awareness. It's about demonstrating our commitment to providing sustainable water solutions to our communities.

For our customers, our end users, this signifies Altogether Group's dedication to delivering recycled water that is not only reliable but also environmentally responsible. It shows that we are part of a larger movement to safeguard Australia's water for future generations. It's about transparency, education, and collaboration, values that are integral to our mission.

I left the Bangarra Dance Theatre with a renewed sense of purpose.

NOW what can you do? Embrace a Water-Conscious Lifestyle for a Better Tomorrow

At Altogether Group, we believe in the power of collective action to create a brighter and more sustainable future. We've seen the impact that knowledge, awareness, and responsible behaviour can have on our water landscape, and we invite you, our valued customers, to join us on this important journey.

As you go about your daily lives, we encourage you to consider the role water plays in your homes and communities.

Small changes in behaviour can have a significant positive impact:

  • Conserve drinking water and, where possible, use recycled water: Implement water-saving practices in your home, such as fixing leaks, installing low-flow fixtures (check out WELS), and using water-efficient appliances. Every drop saved contributes to the preservation of this vital resource.
  • Educate and advocate: Share your knowledge about responsible water usage with your friends, family, and neighbours. Be an advocate for water conservation in your community, as awareness is the first step towards change.
  • Support sustainable initiatives: Look for opportunities to support water-saving initiatives and projects in your area. Participate in community efforts to protect and preserve water sources.
  • Engage in responsible landscaping: Choose drought-resistant plants and implement water-wise landscaping practices to reduce outdoor water consumption.

By taking these steps, you not only ensure a sustainable water supply for your families but also contribute to the broader well-being of your communities and the environment. Together, we can create a water-conscious culture that will benefit us today and leave a legacy for generations to come.

Altogether Group is committed to providing you with recycled water and sustainable solutions. Let's work hand in hand to do the right thing for our families, our broader communities, and the planet we call home. Together, we can make every drop count and secure a better tomorrow for all.
